Albertinia

AlbertinaVisitors to Albertinia soon relax from city life and work pressures to discover the tranquility, beauty and rural hospitality of Albertinia. Situated on the N.2 between Riversdale and Mosselbay, it is home to South Africa’s original aloe factory Alcare Aloe and is part of the region known as “Eden Route”. The rare Albertinia Plains fynbos can still be found in its natural environment, as well as an abundance of thatching reed, which is commercially harvested.

The area surrounding Albertinia offers outstanding photographic opportunities and wide natural vistas, stretching from the coastal area along the Gouritz River, up into the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains. Reflect on the courage of pioneers who braved the mighty Gouritz River where today grapes are cultivated for wine at Die Poort. The famous Gouritz area offers outstanding hiking opportunities and the slow drive to Herbertsdale, a quaint village in the hills closeby, offers breathtaking views over the undulating escarpment. The Garden Route Game Reserve close by offers the chance of big game tracking. Albertinia is also a 20 minute drive to the stunning Stilbaai beach resort and 40 minutes form the seaport town of Mosselbay.
