Dreamcatcher offers visitors the chance to include one, two or three days of volunteering in a community into your travel itinerary. We tailor make this to the clients, concentrating on the skills they can transfer or provide a project for them to get involved with and make a difference.
During this time visitors swop their overnight accommodation for a Homestays with Kamamma, for its authentic and rewarding intra-cultural experiences and one where you connect with the locals at many levels and have the time to share your culture and lifestyle.
Accommodation is comfortable with the normal amenities that you will find at a 2 or 3 star guesthouse. Reviews and recommendations from many who have stayed at the Homestays are plentiful and it is possible for Dreamcatcher to provide you with these recommendations. Not only will have the real experience of living in South Africa: in this way you will contribute part of your holiday spending in South Africa, to poverty alleviation and women empowerment, building confidence and bridges of universal understanding.
In the evening after your volunteering, you will enjoy a Cook Up dinner with a Kamamma. You will enjoy a cultural immersion into different kind of cultures, such as that of the Xhosa, Sotho, Cape Afrikaans or one of the 11 other languages.
The Kamamma will share the lifestyle and traditions of the local woman and her family and you will enjoy cooking an item or two for your colourful and hearty traditional meal. This is a fun and participative experience. It usually lasts for one and a half to two hours but some folk just cannot leave there as they learn first hand from the matriarch herself in her own home.
